Teenager appears in court charged with attempted murder

A teenager has appeared at Nottingham Crown court charged with attempted murder after a pedestrian was hit by a car which failed to stop.

The collision happened on the A631 near Beckingham in north Notts last April.

James Smith, 19, from Gainsborough, was also charged with dangerous driving, as well as the attempted murder.

The victim, also 19, suffered serious injuries in the collision and had to be airlifted to hospital.

Smith has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance in June.
