A teenager has died after falling and hitting her head while leaving Nottingham club the Rescue Rooms in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Managers at the venue say CCTV footage from the club shows the 19-year-old lost her footing and hit her head on the back patio, which leads onto Talbot Street.

Staff at the club were alerted to the incident at 2.28am and the emergency services were called.

A medic from nearby Rock City also rushed to help before she was taken to hospital but the club’s owners say they were later told the young woman had died.

A spokesman from the DHP Family which owns rescue rooms, said: “The Rock City on-site medic attended to give first aid and performed CPR on the young woman.

“The defibrillator was taken from Rock City and was being used by the Rock City medic as the ambulance staff arrived. The ambulance service then took over and continued with the defibrillator procedure and took her to hospital.

“We wish to pass on our heartfelt condolences to the young woman’s family and friends for this very tragic and sad accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.”

Notts Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

A force spokesman said: “The cause of death is yet to be established and enquiries as to the circumstances are on-going.”
