UPDATE: A46 in Notts reopens in both directions after crash involving four cars and HGV with bricks

The A46 in Newark has reopened in both directions following a multi-vehicle crash with emergency services working at the scene.

The crash involved four cars and a HGV laden with bricks and was reported to Nottinghamshire Police at around 7.48am this morning (Tuesday August 14).

It happened on the northbound carriageway between the Cattle Market island and Brownhills.

The roads were closed in both directions but police issued an update at 12.14pm to say the roads have since reopened.

A Notts Fire crew from Newark attended the scene along with Nottinghamshire Police and the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

One of the drivers was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Other casualties suffered minor injuries.
