The Ed’s Easy Diner restaurant in the Victoria Centre shopping centre has permanently closed after nearly 10 years.

Offering American style burgers, hot dogs, breakfasts, chicken and desserts, the restaurant had a 1950s diner theme complete with jukeboxes and themed interior.

Now, the restaurant has been completely stripped and removed off of both the Victoria Centre and Ed’s Easy Diner websites.

It opened in 2015 as part of Victoria Centre’s £40m refurbishment that saw a new ‘clocktower dining’ area open when the shopping centre was previously owned by commercial property operator Intu.

Ed’s Diner opened as part of a 40m expansion known as the ‘clocktower dining’ area, named after the famous clocktower that remains from the old Victoria Train Station

Some of the restaurants that still occupy the spaces are Taco Bell, McDonalds, Krispy Kreme and a soon to open Starbucks.

Ed’s, which is also located in the centre’s upper mall opposite W.H.Smith, had a revamp in 2018 to improve the dining experience.

The American diner offered restaurant items like the ‘Filthy Texan’ beef burger and ‘Tennessee Tower’ chicken burger

The following year, Ed’s parent company Boparan Restaurant Group closed a number of locations in the country following falling profits, but the Nottingham branch was spared.

There are 14 Ed’s Easy Diner locations still across the UK according to the websites, with the restaurant’s first location in Soho, which opened in 1987, also closing in 2019.

It is currently unknown what will replace the restaurant.

Victoria Centre and Ed’s have been approached for comment on the closure.
