Violent ring robbery: Police re-appeal for information two years on

Police are renewing their appeal for information two years after a ring was violently taken from a couple in their garden in Nuthall. £10,000 reward offered.

It’s been two years since a couple from Nuthall were attacked by two men in their garden in Nottingham Road, Nuthall, and Nottinghamshire Police are renewing their appeal for information.

The incident happened on July 11, 2013 at around 8pm. Since then a reward of up to £10,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction of those responsible.

The ring that was stolen is valued at hundreds of thousands of pounds and despite extensive enquiries and a number of arrests, the ring has not been located and no one was charged.

Detective Inspector Andy Bateman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Two years after the robbery, the victims are still very much struggling to come to terms with the fear and violence they encountered that evening, not to mention the loss of such a precious item.

It is highly unusual for an item of such great value to be stolen in a robbery.

Detective Inspector Andy Bateman, Nottinghamshire Police.

He added: “We believe that had the ring been presented to a jeweller for valuation or sale, they would have recognised its worth and become suspicious about how or why it was sold.”

Information has been reissued about one of the offenders, he is described as white, in his 20s with fair skin and hair. He was wearing a blue jacket and a cap. He had badly discoloured teeth.

Nottinghamshire Police want to hear from anyone in the Nottingham area or anyone with links to the jewellery trade in the UK and abroad if they are aware of a ring of this value being offered for sale.

Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 818.
