Around 12,000 people overcame a warmer than expected Sunday to complete the Robin Hood Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini Marathon.
Temperatures reached nearly 19 degrees celsius and sunshine beat down on the runners for most of the 13.1 miles, and 26 miles and 385 yards of the full marathon.
But the race was again a festival of fun and a demonstration of sporting generosity – it is estimated millions of pounds in fundraising is generated every year, with those benefiting including Nottingham University Hospitals, MacMillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.
This year’s half marathon race was won by Chris Thompson, who recorded a time of 1:04:58. The first woman over the line was Emily Waugh in a time of 01:18:01.

Race director Judith Manson said: “The start line, the finish line, and it runs past so many iconic sights in the city, it’s got such a brilliant atmosphere.
“The feeling of community is hugely important – and for some people it’s the first time they have ever done a half marathon but there are seasoned runners as well.
“This is the best day of the year for me.”
