Watch: How fit is the thin blue line? Notts TV takes the police fitness test

Notts Police set journalists the challenge of taking their recruitment fitness test – so naturally we sent sport presenter Owen Shipton.

The force laid the event on as part of lifting of a recruitment freeze which will see around 200 new officers taken on between April 2017 and March 2018.

Force Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Barber also took part – the test involves reaching level
5.4 in the bleep test running assessment, plus a strength test.

Chris Ogden from the force Public Order and Safety Training Team said: “I felt the Deputy Chief Constable did fantastically this morning and maybe the media found it slightly more difficult.

“We wanted to demonstrate that this test is very much achievable for all. We aren’t here to make people fail and we offer a lot of help and advice if some people do struggle.”
