Watch: ‘I think this season needs to be finished’ – Notts County assistant manager on completing the campaign

Watch: Neil Cox thinks the season should be finished for all teams and leagues

Notts County assistant manager Neil Cox says he would like to see the season finished for all teams and leagues as ‘there’s a lot to play for’.

The National League have now followed suit with the Premier League and EFL with all games now suspended until April 3 due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

While the Premier League and EFL announced their suspensions last week, the National League announced this evening they would postpone games until then.

Notts County were among the National League teams to play at the weekend, beating Eastleigh 4-0 with a brace from Kyle Wootton and goals from Kristian Dennis and Cal Roberts.

The Magpies solidified their position in third in the National League with the weekend win, closing the gap to second-placed Harrogate Town to three points, who have a game in hand.

Before news of the postponements emerged when asked if he would like to see the season finished one way or another, Cox said he would.

“I think the season needs to be finished”, said Cox.

“There’s a lot to play for in every league and people want to finish the season and know what’s going on.

“If it goes on for another two months, it goes on for another two months.

“But the main thing is the health of everybody really, that’s the main thing, so the right decisions have to be made at the right time.”

Cox spoke in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Torquay United game tomorrow, which happened with the game still going ahead at the time.
