A Nottingham author’s book about the disappearance of a teenage girl has won a prestigious national prize.
Jon McGregor’s novel Reservoir 13 has scooped the Costa Novel Book Award 2017, beating entries from hundreds of other acclaimed writers.
His novel tells the story of how the girl’s disappearance affects the small rural community where it took place.
Besides being awarded £5,000, Jon now goes on to compete for the overall Costa Book of the Year 2017.
The Costa Book Awards judges described Reservoir 13 as: “Hypnotic, compelling and original – this stunning novel simply blew us away.”
Jon, from Forest Fields, is a Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Nottingham.
