Video: Lia White sings out Notts Tonight on Friday (March 17)
Nottingham’s own reality TV show star wowed the studio with an incredible performance of Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Want To Have Fun on Notts Tonight.
Lia White performed in front of millions of viewers on ITV’s The Voice UK and reached the live knockout rounds with Team Will, run by judge will.i.am.
She appeared as the special guest performing on Notts Tonight on Friday (March 17).
Speaking about her journey, Lia said: “I auditioned for The Voice in June last year so it has been a really long process.
“I never really expected to get as far as I did but I did my blind audition in October which was then shown in January.
“It was really hard to keep it under wraps because only three friends and my family knew so I couldn’t tell anybody else.”
Lia also learnt a lot as the process progressed.
She said: “It has been such a valuable experience because we got vocal coaching and I had never had a singing lesson in my life.
“It really helped me and I learnt a lot about the industry as well.
“I spent a lot of time with will.i.am on camera and as we progressed through the competition we got to spend more time with him off camera.
“The further you get, the more time you get to spend with them, so we get a lot of help from the team who are incredibly supportive.”
will.i.am saved Lia from the battle rounds into his team.
Lia said: “I wasn’t happy with my performance at that stage of the competition personally so I was stood there thinking I was ready to go.
“I was not expecting for Will to say my name at all so I was very happy when he did.
“Last weekend I sang Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper which is a surprise if you know me because I changed it up to make it my own.”
