Watch: Notts County manager Kevin Nolan wants improvement or else ‘I’ve got problems’

Video: Kevin Nolan could have ‘problems’ unless his side improve against Carlisle

Notts County manager Kevin Nolan said he wants to see an improved performance against Carlisle at Meadow Lane tonight (Tuesday February 13) or else ‘I’ve got problems’.

Nolan was critical of his side following the 1-0 loss to League 2 bottom side Barnet on Saturday (February 10), saying some of the players did not listen to his instructions during the match.

Barnet collected all three points late on after Alex Nicholls scored in the 93rd minute to earn them their first win of 2018.

Nolan made the Notts squad watch a full 90 minute replay of the match to show them what happened compared to a usual 15-20 minute video.

And speaking in the pre-match press conference on Monday (February 12), Nolan said he needs to see an improved performance ahead of the game against Carlisle.

He said: “I’m hoping I’m going to get a completely different performance – if I get the same as what I did I’ve got problems.

“We can’t get carried away and go from one end of the scale to the other quickly – it’s easy to go from the top and then put in a real poor performance.

“But I don’t think you can go from being so poor to thinking that we’ll click back because we’ve got good players.”

Nolan said he is expecting Carlisle to be direct when they visit Meadow Lane.

He said: “Carlisle will try and get on the front foot like they always do and they’ll look to play quite long.

“They’ll try and stretch us and they’ve got some good individual performers, some good lads who get the ball in the box as quickly as possible.

“We’ll have a lot to deal with but we have a game plan, and if we stick to the game plan like they have more often than not this season then we give ourselves a good opportunity of getting back to winning ways.”
