WEATHER WARNING: Region expecting heavy, wintry showers overnight

Nottinghamshire may be hit with heavy wintry showers tonight, according to forecasters who have issued a yellow weather warning.

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for East Midlands, with the public being advised to be aware of tricky travel problems that may occur.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: “The cold westerly flow which became established across the UK on Sunday night is set to continue overnight Monday and into Tuesday.

“This is a very unstable airmass bringing showers of sleet, snow and hail.”
