A yellow weather warning of snow and ice for Nottinghamshire has been issued by the Met Office.

The warning runs from 11am this morning (Thursday November 30) until 10am tomorrow (Friday December 1) morning.

Occasional heavy wintry showers are expected mainly during Thursday afternoon and evening.

2-5cm of snow may accumulate on ground above 100m primarily over Scotland and northeast England.

A centimetre or two is possible to low levels with any low level accumulations across England being temporary.

The Met Office have warned journey times may be longer by road, bus and rail.

The chief forecaster’s assessment said: “Showers in England will largely be confined to the far eastern regions at first but will penetrate further inland by the end of the afternoon.

“These showers will then increasingly turn back to sleet and rain to lower levels overnight but snow will persist on the higher ground of the North York Moors and eastern Pennines through Friday morning.

“Showers will ease in Scotland during the evening.”
