Yellow weather warning of wind issued for Nottinghamshire

A yellow weather warning of wind has been issued by the Met Office for Nottinghamshire and will run for most of the day.

The warning was issued at 9.46am this morning (Tuesday June 6) and is expected to last until 10pm tonight.

Strong to gale force winds of 40 to 50mph are likely with some gusts of 60mph possible over coasts, hills and inland where showers occur.

The Met Office have urged the public to expect some localised transport disruption with the possibility of some trees being uprooted.

The chief forecaster’s assessment said: “The strongest winds will affect Wales, western and southern England initially before extending across the Midlands towards Lincolnshire and East Anglia this afternoon.

“Winds then moderating from the southwest this evening.”

The warning applies to the majority of England south of Manchester and Leeds and all of Wales.

A yellow weather warning of rain is also in place around 50 miles to the west of Nottinghamshire.
