A 46-year-old woman who was hit by a police car last week is still in a serious condition at the QMC.

The incident is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) after the collision happened near to the Whitemoor tram stop at around 6.45pm last Wednesday (January 11).

The woman was taken by ambulance to the QMC and is still in a serious condition, police said.

Officers were travelling to a report of an ongoing burglary at the time of the crash.

The IPCC has started to gather CCTV and body cam video footage along with data from the police car.

IPCC Commissioner Derrick Campbell said: “Our investigators have met with members of the woman’s family to explain our role and our thoughts are very much with them.

“This happened during the busy rush hour and we know a tram and a bus had both stopped close to where the collision occurred, so there are many potential witnesses.

“We intend to carry out a thorough investigation and we would urge anyone we have not yet spoken to who saw any part of this incident to contact us without delay.”

A spokesman from Nottinghamshire Police said further details about the incident will be released by IPCC when they emerge.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IPCC investigation team on 0800 096 9071 or via email at [email protected].
