Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin is returning to the site of his first ATP Tour title.

He said: “I’m looking forward to returning to Nottingham to defend my Aegon Open title.

“It’s going to be difficult though as the field is made up of world class players, including some British favourites.

“For obvious reasons, the city and tournament is special to me and this year, I’m determined to add to the happy memories I created in 2015.”

Last year’s semi-finalist Alexandr Dolgopolov is looking to go one step further at the Aegon Open this year as he prepares for Wimbledon.

The grass season is special

He said: “I’m really looking forward to getting on grass at the Nottingham Tennis Centre again to complete my preparations for Wimbledon where I hope to do well.

“The grass court season is such a short and special time of year that makes every opportunity to play and every event on grass a key part of your Grand Slam.

“Nottingham will play a big part in that.”
