“I’m used to it”: Radford residents react after Ash View stabbing

Video: Alan Kennedy on the stabbings that have happened at Ash View

A Radford resident living in the block of flats where a man was stabbed multiple times says he is “used to it” happening.

Alex Kennedy says six stabbings have happened at Ash View flats in the past three
years with the most recent happening on Monday (July 5).

A 41-year-old man was stabbed multiple times inside the complex, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police have arrested three men and a woman aged between 35 and 43 on suspicion of GBH. They have all been bailed pending further enquiries.

I’ve got to live with it

Mr Kennedy said: “This is home for me, I’ve got to live with it, I’m used to it.

Of the previous series of incidents he said: “If someone kicks off in one area and does something to someone, it could trigger something else in another area.”

Monday’s incident is at least the sixth stabbing in the city in the last five weeks.

Several people have been attacked and injured since the fatal stabbing of Aqib Mazhar, 20, on Russell Road, Forest Fields, on June 1.

Police are investigating all the incidents and have made several arrests. The six attacks are not believed to be linked.

Another resident at Ash View, who asked not to be identified, told Notts TV News they felt “unsafe in their own home” after the incident.

Five of the stabbings have happened within a two-mile radius of the city centre.

Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to contact police on 101.
