A Nottinghamshire man has covered a plum tree which stands 24 feet high in his front garden with 16,000 Christmas LED lights and is visible from three miles away.

Last Christmas Andy Black, from Basford, covered his tree in 7,000 lights to celebrate the festive this season.

This year, he added a further 9,000 lights and will keep them attached to the tree all year round with the tree visible from more than three miles away.

Andy said: “I drove that far to see if I could see it and I could see a blue blob in among all the street lights.

“I phoned my wife up and asked her to switch the tree off, she did and the blob went away.

“I then asked her to switch them back on, she did and I could see it again so I took a photo and when I got home, zoomed in and there it was, my tree!”
