A persistent thief has been handed a court order – which includes a ban on him riding “any form” of bike in Worksop.

Peter Downs, 43, of Winifred Street in the town, was handed a two year order at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Downs was told that over the period of the order, he would not be allowed to enter the Dukeries Industrial Estate, the Highgrounds Industrial Estate or “ride or be on any form of bike in Worksop”.

Police say he is responsible for a spate of car and shed break-ins in the town.

Failure to comply with the order could see Downs sent to prison.

PCSO Ruth Dixon from Worksop Police Station said: “I am extremely proud of the officers who have worked so hard to gain this Criminal Behaviour Order.

“Pete Downs is a serial offender and this shows our determination to severely restrict the activity of an individual who shows no respect for the law.”
