Once a 16th Century ale house, The Red Lion is a fine country pub set in the charming village of Thurgarton, next door to the historic town of Southwell.
Newly owned and refurbished in January 2019, you can expect all the original features of this historic pub, that’s been refreshed and complimented with contemporary decor. With four separate dining and drinking areas off the central bar, each with its own character, makes The Red Lion a delightful place to visit.
Owners Gemma Carey (General Manager) and Kyme Howells (Head Chef) who originate from award-winning pub and hotel The Staunton Arms, Staunton-in-the-Vale, have created a warm and friendly pub, with a creative menu of fresh food served daily and a choice of fine wines, and real ales from local and national breweries. There’s also a children’s menu available, an outdoor play area, a special bar for our four-legged friends to visit and full WiFi throughout, providing plenty of reasons to come and visit with friends and family.
And if you fancy something different in the evenings, there’s a whole host of events taking place throughout the year, including live music, quiz nights, special dining evenings and beer festivals.
