More than 1000 beacons were lit throughout the country last night to mark Her Majesty’s special day, which saw various events taking place across Nottinghamshire.

The Queen was televised lighting the main beacon at Windsor Castle which led to many organisations and councils lighting their own to celebrate the historic day.

Councillor Yvonne Woodhead, Vice-Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council lit the a beacon in front of County Hall, in West Bridgford yesterday.
