More than 7,000 people took on the Ikano Robin Hood Marathon in Nottingham on Sunday.

Runners of the full 26 mile route and the half started and finished at the Victoria Embankment, taking in Nottingham Castle and Wollaton Hall.

And there were some classics sights and stories along the way, all captured on social media.

First up is James Taylor, the former Notts and England cricketer, whose friends and family ran to raise cash for the British Heart Foundation.

James was forced to retire from cricket in April after he was diagnosed with a heart condition called arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. So far the fundraising marathon drive set up for the BHF by his friend Amie Paul has gathered £1,770.

Paralympic champion Richard Whitehead, fresh from more success at in Rio, gets things under way.

Good spot Dan.

After a chilly start the temperatures on Sunday reached 17c so Paula’s efforts were well appreciated.

Well done Kevin. We hope you feel better now.

This. Just this.

From the ridiculous to the sublime eye for a photo.

At least Pierre didn’t experience a ‘detonation’.

Mark is still going strong FYI.

So people can make lovely emoticon-based pictures Graham. Well done everyone!
