The A1 will remain closed in both directions in Nottinghamshire until ‘late tonight’ say Nottinghamshire Police.
Officers are still dealing with the collision which involved five HGVs on the southbound carriageway near Retford earlier today (Wednesday February 28).
The road is blocked between the A634 and the junction with the A614 – injuries are believed to be minor at this time.
Poor weather conditions are also causing standstill traffic on the northbound carriageway.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area an drive carefully as many areas continue to have poor visibility.
