Lady Bay Bridge closed after police incident

The A6011 Lady Bay Bridge, one of the main roads into the city centre, is closed in both directions following a police incident this morning.

The closure between A6520 Radcliffe Road and the Meadow Lane junction has caused delays to traffic and bus services during morning rush hour and people are being urged to avoid the area.

The bridge was closed at around 5am by Nottinghamshire Police and they are unsure when the bridge will be reopened.

It is not known what the incident was but police have cordoned off an area.

Nottinghamshire Police tweeted: “Lady Bay Bridge is currently closed in both directions. Please avoid the area. We do not yet know when it will re-open.”

Nottingham City Transport tweeted: “Allow extra time if catching buses 1-11 this morning. Trent Bridge and Radcliffe Road will be much busier because Lady Bay Bridge closed.”

NCT also tweeted that there are severe delays to Navy 1-4 and Green 5-11 buses with some buses taking more than twenty minutes to travel along Trent Boulevard.
