Man dies after falling from Framework building in Nottingham city centre

A man has died after falling from a building providing accommodation for the homeless in Nottingham city centre.

Police, ambulances and the air ambulance were called to the London Road building run by homelessness charity Framework at the BBC roundabout at around 12.37pm on Friday (January 19).

One lane was closed on London Road northbound while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Framework Services Director Dave Smith said: “A man has died after an incident at Framework’s London Road Hostel in Nottingham.

“The man, a resident at the service who has not been named, died at around 12.15pm this afternoon after falling from the building.

“This tragic incident has been very traumatic for residents and for staff, who attempted to give first aid at the scene.

“We are offering all necessary assistance to the emergency services and will cooperate fully with any future investigation.

“We are unable to say anything more at this stage.”

Notts Police said in a statement: “Emergency services have responded to reports that a person fell from a building in the city centre.

“We were called to London Road, at 12.37pm today (Friday 19 January 2018). Enquiries are ongoing.”

Fire crews were also called to the scene and emergency teams could be seen behind the fence to the building.

It provides accommodation for 45 single homeless people at any one time.
