Amber Peat: School in Mansfield ‘deeply shocked’ by body discovery

Amber Peat’s school, Queens Elizabeth’s Academy in Mansfield are ‘deeply shocked and saddened’ about the discovery.

The principal of the Mansfield school that Amber attended spoke of how she’d been there since September and described her as “academically bright.”

Amber went missing at around 5:30pm on Saturday. Nottinghamshire Police found a body whilst searching the area for the missing teenager.

Flowers have now been laid by the scene where the body was discovered.

Nottinghamshire Police have thanked the local community for their support in trying to find Amber Peat.

Over four hundred officers and staff, including those from our five neighbouring East Midlands forces, were looking for her. Sadly this was not the outcome that any of us were hoping for.

Officer have informed Amber’s family, Superintendent Matt McFarlane said: “Our thoughts are with Amber’s family.”

A post mortem examination and formal identification will take place later today.
