Arrest made in connection with fatal A1 crash involving six vehicles

Police have arrested a man following a collision on the A1 at Newark Thursday (March 9) morning.

A 52-year-old man who was the driver one of the six vehicles involved in the crash, died following the collision.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Another man – the driver of one of the lorries – was taken to the QMC by air ambulance for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

A woman was also taken to hospital by ambulance and three other men were treated for their injuries at the scene.

The incident happened at around 7.55am yesterday (Thursday March 9) morning on the northbound carriageway between the A46 and the B6326 junction.

Officers are continuing to investigate the collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed it or who captured it on a dash cam, to contact them quoting incident 137 of 9 March 2017.
