Video: Ben Osborn talks about the new season and adapting to new coaching methods
Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn can’t wait for the start of the new season and is relishing getting back “into the thick of it.”
The 21 year old believes that players will have to grab first team opportunities with both hands and that Forest need to hit the ground running.
Nottingham Forest start their Sky Bet Championship campaign at the City Ground against Burton Albion on Saturday (August 6).
If you don’t perform it’s your fault
Osborn said: “I think the new signings have brought a lot of competition to the squad.
“There was competition last season but I think there’s more options you can go to this time around and there’s a few young lads coming through as well who will be pushing for starts.
“Everyone will get their chance at some point but if you don’t perform it’s your fault.”
Players are more comfortable on the ball during a game
The midfielder expects Forest to be a lot more patient and comfortable in possession.
He said: “Montanier is setting us up to play with a bit more patience and a bit more freedom and he’s got everyone really fit for the new season.
“We’ve seen a lot more of the ball in preseason and I think it’s making players more comfortable when they’re on it during the game.
“I’m hoping to get a lot more goals and assists to my name and that’s something I’ll be working hard to improve on this season.”
