Body in River Trent confirmed as Wilford man Michael Bugg

The body found by officers during a search for missing Wilford man Michael Bugg has been identified as his.

Nottinghamshire Police recovered a body in the River Trent on Wednesday (August 24) morning near County Hall.

Police are still investigating Mr Bugg’s final movements but his death is currently not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Bugg went missing on Sunday (August 21) at around 1.10am after leaving the Southbank Bar in West Bridgford.

Police boat teams had been searching the river and volunteers had also been combing the area around West Bridgford and Wilford.

Nottinghamshire Police thanked members of the public for helping with their search for the body.

Detective Chief Inspector Karen Pearson said: “We would like to thank the many people who came out seeking to assist officers during the search for Mr Bugg.

“Your assistance and support was appreciated by ourselves and the family of Mr Bugg.”
