Deadline day reaction for Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Mansfield Town

Fans, managers and owners have all been reacting to what deals their club did, or did not do, on transfer deadline day.

Nottingham Forest fans were anxious on social media to see who the Reds would invest in following the £13m departure of highly-rated Oliver Burke to RB Leipzig.

Owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi did promise to re-invest the money in the team – but did not say it would all be splashed by the end of deadline day.

Al-Hasawi told the Nottingham Post why Oliver Burke was sold.

He said: “We will be out of the transfer embargo permanently now because of the sale of Oliver Burke.

“That issue has gone for us now, the finances are covered and we do not want to breach the rules.

“I am not looking to take the £13m and put it in my pocket; my dream has always been to make this club a success and I still want to make that happen.”

All the money from the Oliver Burke sale will go back into the club

“If we are in a good position and need a push, we can buy more players; if we have a chance of the top six in January, we can buy two players to give us a boost.

Former Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore responded to the three deadline deals done by Forest by calling for Al-Hasawi to step down.

He too was unhappy with the sale of Oliver Burke and the subsequent lack of a marquee signing.

Only one transfer involved Notts County on deadline day but manager John Sheridan is looking forward to what Aaron Collins can bring to Meadow Lane.

He said: “He’s got a lot of potential – he’s quick, he can play up front and wide right; he’s got good energy.

“Wolves believe in him and he’s been doing really well in their 21s team; I believe he’s a really good asset to us.

“He’s looking forward to working with us and hopefully playing a lot of games and he’ll be involved on Saturday [at home to Grimsby].”

He’s got a good presence and is very aggressive

Mansfield Town were more active on deadline day than the Magpies with the signing of Nottingham Forest defender Alex Iacovitti on a season long loan deal, before loaning out three players on one-month deals to non-league clubs.

Speaking about Iacovitti, manager Adam Murray said: “He’s somebody that’s got a very good presence about him, left-footed which will give us balance and he’s very aggressive.

“That little bit of pace helps and Alex has that in abundance.

“He comes in at centre-half but to play left back in the Championship, as he did against Burton Albion, proves he’s comfortable there as well.”

Adam Murray also saw the lighter side of transfer deadline day as Mansfield Town posted a video of him ‘rejecting’ a £4.6m bid.

It came after Murray said that clubs would have to bid upwards of £5m for striker Matt Green before making it clear that he would not be sold.
