Trains services north of Nottingham were disrupted after a woman was hit by a train.
East Midlands Trains said it happened around 1pm on Monday and cancelled some services.
Motorists said the incident happened near Hucknall and the woman had been taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre but her exact condition is not known.
The company later said the route had re-opened and services were starting to run as normal again by around 2.15pm.

Replacement buses were arranged for services which were cancelled and the firm said rail tickets would be accepted on NET trams between Newstead and Nottingham.
