Dougie Freedman hopes to have two more signings for Nottingham Forest

Despite being under a transfer embargo, Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman is still hoping to bring in a couple more new faces to the club.

Freedman made it clear that it has to be the right player for the club and he is prepared to be patient, although there is a possibility that the signings could be made by the end of the week.

“I won’t bring in just quantity, I think we need to look for quality. I’ve got a couple more spaces to fill up. Hopefully we could get the signings by the weekend.”

As well as bringing players in, Freedman is also confident of keeping hold to winger Michail Antonio, despite interest from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.

“West Brom made an offer that’s not even worth me talking about. The chairman doesn’t need the money and I am confident that he will be here at the end of the month.”

Last season, Forest finished in a disappointing 14th place but Freedman has higher hopes this time around.

“If I can pick up some more away wins, reaching the top six is very achievable, especially if we sign these two players.”

“I think we’re stronger, we’re a little more balanced. I have a responsibility to get this club out of embargo and get the club into the top six.”

Nottingham Forest’s season gets under way on Friday night against Brighton at the Amex Stadium, with the first home game coming in the Capital One Cup against Walsall on Tuesday 11th August.

However, the Reds will be without midfielders Andy Reid and Chris Cohen.

Andy Reid has been training with the first team and could be fit enough to feature for the under 21’s in a couple of weeks.

Chris Cohen is still around six weeks away from being fit enough to return to full training.
