A flood warning has been issued for the River Trent in Nottingham after a day of almost constant rain in the city and county on Sunday.
The Environment agency issued the alert at 4.25pm, saying flooding is possible along the entire length of the river from Castle Donington to Cromwell Weir, near Newark.
A flood alert is the third most serious out of three levels of warning from the agency.
It means high water levels are “possible” and people should “be prepared” to have to protect property close to the river’s banks.
It is not as serious as a “severe” flood warning, meaning danger to life, or a “flood warning”, which means flooding is “likely”.
According to the Met Office, the rain is due to ease through Sunday night into Monday morning.
More information about flooding is available from the Environment Agency.
