Nottingham Forest are the cheapest top flight club in Nottinghamshire to support as a football fan, stats reveal.

According to the new BBC Price of Football stats released today, Nottingham Forest is the cheapest club to support over 15 games when the cheapest match day ticket, buying a pie, a cup of tea and a programme per visit plus one adult shirt per season is taken into account.

The Championship club’s fan would spend £305 a season supporting their club on this basis, while a Mansfield Town fan would spend the most supporting their team at a yearly expenditure of £340 per season.

The fan at Meadow Lane supporting the Magpies would spend £336 per season, only £4 less than league rivals Mansfield.

Notts County’s cheapest match day ticket is the most expensive in League Two at £22 per ticket which is above the average League two cheapest ticket price of £18 per game.

The club previously had match day tickets below the league average in 2013/14 but increased prices during 2014/15 when they were still in League One.

Since then the club was relegated to League Two but the match day ticket prices have remained the same since.

County also have the third highest season ticket price in the league at £310 for the cheapest available.

Mansfield Town top that list with the league’s highest prices for the cheapest season ticket at £330 a year.

The Stags also have above average priced match day tickets but have the lowest ticket prices per goal between the three top flight Nottinghamshire clubs, with each goal costing £9.71.

For Nottingham Forest the cheapest match day ticket price is 19 per cent below the Championship average and cheaper than their River Trent rivals at £18 a ticket.

Although fans at the City Ground may pay less to view their football team they are not necessarily getting more value for money in terms of goals.

Forest supporters are paying the fourth highest price per home goal in the Championship at £15.56 per goal, over £5 more than both Notts County and Mansfield.

A program costs the same at all three clubs while your cheapest pie and cup of tea can be found at Meadow Lane.
