Gardeners find Victorian mosaic with historic links to former city mayor in Nottingham dig

One group of gardeners stumbled upon an historic piece of architecture that tells us stories of Nottingham’s roots.

Martin Marshall and his team at the Marvellous Gardens were planting some apple trees around the Elm Close apartments in Mapperley when they found a path of mosaic flooring that dates back to Victorian times.

After digging into some of the land’s history, however, they found out it may have been put there by the mayor of Nottingham back in 1800’s.

Sam Hurst went down there to find out more.
