IN PICTURES: Life-sized replica of Robin Hood statue unveiled

Nottingham’s famous Robin Hood statue now has a twin.

The legendary bronze figure outside Nottingham Castle has been copied by experts from Nottingham Trent University.

And the seven feet tall creation has been turning heads since it went on display in the foyer of the university’s Newton building.

Research fellow Richard Arm and school of art and design technician Ryan Young led a team which made a resin mould of the original and re-created it in bronze.

Next month the replica will be flown to China as a gift to Nottingham’s sister city of Ningbo, which has produced a lion sculpture in return.

To see the replica in detail, see our photo gallery below, and watch the cast of the original being made via the time lapse video.
