A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a house fire in Derby Grove, Lenton.
Emergency services were called to the premises on Sunday at 12:45pm after a fire allegedly broke out in the kitchen.
One person was taken to Queens Medical Centre with life threatening injuries and the fire caused significant damage to the ground floor of the property.
The road is still closed at the junctions with Ilkeston Road and Derby Road.
The 56-year-old man remains in custody while further investigations are carried out by police and fire officers.
