Mansfield burglars jailed for total of 11 years

Two Mansfield burglars who carried out a series of break-ins across North Nottinghamshire have been jailed for a total of 11 years.

Cezary Goman, 19, and Mateusz Koza, 27, both of Mansfield Woodhouse, were found guilty of conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary and theft, burglary with intent to steal, theft of a motor vehicle and attempted fraud by false representation.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that the pair used a green Vauxhall Corsa to travel between the properties that they raided, specifically targeting elderly victims so they could take jewellery, ornaments and electrical items.

Officers recovered property stolen from West Bank Avenue, Mansfield, Stainforth Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, Farndon Road and Sutton-in-Ashfield.

They also recovered items from a property in Sherwood Drive, Ollerton, where a Ducati Monster Motorcycle was taken from the rear garden.

This was a complex investigation which involved linking a series of thefts to this pair.

DC Lee Keeling, Nottinghamshire Police.

DC Lee Keeling, who led the investigation said: “Through CCTV, forensic and phone work we placed Goman and Koza at the scene of various crimes. We then worked on linking dozens of stolen items to property recovered from George Street and we have been able to reunite much of it with the victims.

“After the devastating impact of having their homes invaded, sometimes while they were at home asleep, I hope gives them some comfort and reassurance that we work hard to protect them and bring criminals to justice.

“I’d also like to thank all the officers and staff and the CPS who worked on this case to bring about this sentence.”

After a five day trial Goman was convicted and sentenced to four years in a youth offenders institution and Koza was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison.
