How many Nottingham people would recognise the Pi symbol?

 

March 14 marks International Pi day – but how many people recognise the mathematical symbol and know what it actually is?

Pi, symbolised by ‘π’ is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter with a figure of 3.14 rounded down.

We showed the symbol to people in Nottingham, and got some precise – and not so precise – explanations.
