Member of staff stabbed at Highbury Hospital

A member of staff at Highbury Hospital is receiving treatment after being stabbed.

Notts Police were called to the site in Highbury Road, Highbury Vale, at around 10.05am after reports a man was threatening staff with a knife.

Officers discovered a staff member had been stabbed when they arrived on the scene. The man was taken to hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening.

A police spokesman said: “A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody. Investigations are ongoing.”

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, said: “Police and ambulance colleagues are in attendance. We are co-operating fully with the Police.

“We can confirm  that a member of staff has been injured – but his injuries are not life threatening. Someone has been arrested in connection with the incident.”

Highbury Hospital provides treatment for adults with mental health problems and learning disabilities, plus older people’s services.
