Nottingham’s ‘Lark in the Park’ attracts thousands

The sci-fi themed, National Play Day event, ‘Lark in the Park’ attracts five thousand visitors to West Bridgford.

The annual day event, held in Bridgford Park, West Bridgford was organised by Rushcliffe Borough Council and celebrated National Play Day.

The Mayor of Rushcliffe said: ‘This is the first time I have attended Lark in the Park and I am having a ball! I came to see the fantastic work that all of our our officers, volunteers and stall holders have provided for families’.

‘The event has been running for 25 years and I hope to see it continue for many more’.

‘I am delighted to be representing the community here today as the Mayor, at one of the biggest events in Nottinghamshire. This event was extremely well organised, the sun is shining and everyone here has a smile on their face!’

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Mayor, Councillor Francis Purdue-Horan was thrilled to be a part of the day.

This years science fiction themed event welcomes famous faces from Star Wars, Star Trek and Dr Who. There was also superheroes and time-travelling visitors.

‘It’s great for local families, I can see lots of little super heroes running around and enjoying themselves!’.

However, there was also a serious message for the community, with many stalls there to increase awareness of local services. ‘What a fantastic place to inspire people and demonstrate local services’ said the Mayor.

There was also be fairground rides, inflatables, have-a-go sports workshops and craft activities.

Curtis Wilson, a local man said: ‘I’m thoroughly enjoying myself here today with my family. I’m surprised to see just how big this local event has become and it’s great for the area too’.
