Labour MP John Mann will not stand again for Labour in Bassetlaw.

Nottinghamshire MP John Mann has confronted the former mayor of London and accused him of being a ‘Nazi apologist’ in a heated exchange caught on camera.

Mr Mann, the Bassetlaw MP, shouted at Ken Livingstone, a fellow high-profile Labour party figure in Westminster.

The incident forms part of a heated row within the party over alleged anti-semitism.

It was filmed by reporters including the BBC’s Vicki Young, who tweeted a clip of the exchange.

A group of Labour MPs are calling for Mr Livingstone’s expulsion from the party, after he defended MP Naz Shah, who was suspended over “anti-Semitic” comments.

But Mr Livingstone has stood by his comments and says Ms Shah is not anti-semitic.

Mr Mann shouted at him as he arrived at the BBC’s Westminster studios this morning.

Ms Shah was suspended by the Labour Party, pending an investigation, over comments she made on Facebook before she became an MP.

They included a suggestion that Israel should be moved to the United States.

She apologised but the incident has sparked a heated debate within the party over the handling of alleged anti-semitism.

Shortly after the confrontation with Mr Mann, Mr Livingstone was also suspended by the party.
