Notts TV is launching a new flagship programme to bring news, conversation and entertainment live to living rooms across the city and county.

Notts Tonight will air for the first time from 5.30pm on Monday, February 13.

Appearing every weekday, it will be fronted by regular presenting team Iain Chambers and Kate Chaplin.

The new programme format will feature news, opinion and entertainment broadcast live from the channel’s city centre studio.

It will replace the current separate Notts TV News and 6:30 Show programmes.

Iain said: “Creating a hybrid that shines a spotlight on Nottinghamshire’s major events and most interesting people, all in one package, gives us the chance to be more creative than ever.

“Of course we’ll be reporting on the most hard-hitting news from across our county, but we’ll also be giving a voice to the most unique and quirky individuals Nottinghamshire has to offer.”

Kate added:”The new show is about bringing all of the best stories from around the county and the great conversations and opinions together in one show.

“If you live in Notts then it has what’s happening locally on your doorstep, your street or in your town, all the time; no-one else offers that.”

The channel’s head of programmes, Mike Braithwaite, said the change had been developed over several months.

“It’s hoped it’ll give the audience a one stop shop for all Notts news and conversation over the course of an hour, leaving the audience informed and entertained,” he said.

“In Iain and Kate we have two young, energetic presenters with excellent local knowledge and a natural warmth. They’ll be ably supported by our team of reporters, giving a unique offering of news and features – things that don’t always get covered by national or regional broadcasters.

“I hope it’s something the viewer can be proud of and feel a sense of ownership over – we champion Notts and will also aim to be positive about the county, which we all love.”

Notts TV is available on Freeview Channel 7, Sky 117 and Virgin 159, with latest news from across Nottinghamshire and programmes on demand 24 hours a day at nottstv.com.

The 6:30 Show will remain available on catch up at nottstv.com until April, and Notts Tonight will also be uploaded to watch on-demand from next Tuesday, February 14.
