A man has been charged by police, over a number of public order incidents.

Police and fire investigators found that an 80-year-old woman died in a house where a fire took place before the building caught alight.

Crews from Stockhill and West Bridgford Fire Stations were called to the property in Wilton Terrace, Old Basford at 9.38am on Wednesday (14 December).

Police officers and paramedics also attended the scene.

Following the joint investigation into the circumstances by Nottinghamshire Police and the Fire and Rescue Service, it was established that the woman died before a small fire occurred in the kitchen.

Her death is not believed to be suspicious.

The fire, which caused some smoke damage, started accidentally and was already out when firefighters arrived.

The Nottinghamshire Coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
