The Conservative Party maintained control of Rushcliffe Borough Council despite losing a seat in the Local Elections.
Of the 44 seats, the Conservatives won 25, Labour won 9, Independents won five, Rushcliffe Independents won two, the Green Party won two and the Liberal Democrats won one.
After the 2019 elections, 26 Conservative councillors were elected, along with six Labour councillors, four Liberal Democrats, six independents and three members of the Green Party.
The Labour Party gained three candidates while the Liberal Democrats lost three as the results rolled in on May 5.
It comes as a surge from a new party, Rushcliffe Independents, saw one of its members, Ted Birch, win the Cropwell ward seat which was previously held by Conservative Cllr Gordon Moore.
An announcement on the authority’s new leader is also set to be made this month after former council leader Simon Robinson stepped down before the local elections.
Deputy leader Andy Edyvean will step in until a new leader is announced by the council on May 25th.
