Samit Patel on scoring runs and Notts’ bright future

VIDEO: Patel says he is happy to have reached 10,000 runs

Popular Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel is pleased to have passed 10,000 first class runs but is focused on helping to improve Nottinghamshire’s form.

Patel has an impressive record with the bat so far this season, having scored 713 runs in all formats of the game with a high of 124 at an average of 41.94.

However Nottinghamshire have won just one game in any format so far this season, which was a home win over Surrey in the opening County Championship game.

I’m happy with my bowling

Patel said: “All I have done in the winter was bowl I thought so I’m surprised I’ve batted this well!

“Going on two England tours sitting on the bench and bowling all day really so I’m now happy with the way I’m bowling and the way the winter went.

“It’s good to work with Otis Gibson, the England bowling coach.”
