Hundreds of people are expected to sink their teeth into the annual Southwell Bramley Apple Festival this weekend.
The world-famous apple was first propagated more than 200 years ago from the garden of a cottage on Church Street in the town.
The festival celebrates its history every year and this Saturday’s event includes many apple-themed activities, including poetry, apple baking and photography competitions.
Southwell Minster Marketing Officer, Kathryn Anderson, said: “There is more variety of stalls than ever this year and plenty of children’s activities in the palace and education garden, weather permitting. There is something for everyone.”
Southwell’s Workhouse will also be hosting events and activities, including the longest apple peel competition and the announcing who is the apple king and queen.
More information about the festival is available on the Visit Southwell website.
