More than a thousand patients have been left without a doctor after St Mary’s Medical Centre in Top Valley closed without warning.

The surgery on Harvest Close was shut on February 15, with no explanation available as to why the surgery closed it’s doors.

A notice on the locked gates says: “Patients who have appointments this week will be contacted by phone” and “will receive a letter explaining the alternative arrangements”.

There are 1,100 registered patients at the practice, with hundreds of appointments expected to be interrupted following the closure.

The surgery is advising any patients wishing to receive treatment to visit Rise Park Surgery or Hucknall Road Medical Centre, who will be taking on extra patients.

A CQC report in August 2015 found that the medical centre, which has two doctors, needed improvement.

Staff at the centre could not be reached for comment, and CQC staff were not immediately available to provide information about the centre’s status.
