Trent Bridge will be the first stadium ever to host a ‘Super Series’ one day international when England face Sri Lanka on June 21.
The new Super Series is an initiative created by the English Cricket Board to try and add excitement into long summer series.
The system will mean that points are introduced for Test wins One Day International wins and 2020 with the team with the most points winning the Super Series.
This system is already used for the Women’s Ashes and will be trialled for England’s summer series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The teams will still compete to win the individual series but also earn points towards the ultimate Super Series.
The points system for Super Series
Four points will be earned for a Test Match win and two points for a draw
Two point earned for a One Day International win
Two points will be earned for a 2020 victory
