WATCH: How Nottingham fared with Black Friday

It’s the biggest shopping day of the year when shop prices plummet for 24 hours to get people to prepare their gifts in time for Christmas.

However with Black Friday bargains having taken over the internet, Nottingham streets have been much quieter than in recent years.

This year, shops such as Asda completely scrapped the discount day and many other retailers introduced deals earlier in the week to avoid the mayhem.

The day itself has picked up ‘negative perceptions in some parts of the country,’ says Paul Tyler, the centre manager for East Midlands Designer Outlet, however he thinks it benefits his business.

We make sure the experience is positive

Mr Tyler said: “For us, it’s much more engaging, it’s much more fun shopping environment and the measures we put in place, we look at more security, extra staffing and extra cleaning resources.

“We make sure the experience is as positive as it can be for our customers.

“We know it’s going to be busy and we want it to be as easy as we can make it for our customers.”
